I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, a mystical colorful city whose habitants are more particular then anyone can imagine, this goes from the way we talk, walk and the way we live life and its treasures, including music.
Since I can remember my family and friends meetings always involved a guitar a keyboard or some sort of karaoke type, so in this sense I was always surrounded by music, my grandfather and grandmother used to sing Zarzuela when they were young (they were from Catalonia, Spain), my father also sang incredibly and is still stealing my microphone every time he has the opportunity, and my mother even without being the greatest singer in the world is obsessed with it (they even own a portable karaoke, and this is not the only one). So I taught myself to sing by the influence of them, and have been since I can remember
My first real band was probably when I was 13 or 14 years old, and I started playing guitar around that time. From that point on I went from one band to another, singing from hard rock, alternative rock, and grunge. Yes this was the 90s. I wrote my first song for a friend when I was 12, and I have been writing ever since.
I then started around college new types of bands with other musical interests, such as; ska fused with classical music and R & B (Mr. Froid), reggae, drum and base, chill out and psicodelic house music (Skama sweet selection), Disco, funky, Latin elements (Santos Club), indie electro-folk (Los Os Brokolis), 50´s rock with pop rock (Nicotine Sunshine) and I also started doing several collaborations with several bands such as Gods New Version for whom I sang and wrote the lyrics of a song called American beauty, which was later picked for a recompilation of Chill out music in Venezuela (Chill Out Volume 1). Among other collaborations there is one with Dj Triphonic and Tommy Leb, The Song is called Brisa (it’s a pretty drum and base fun song about my city Maracaibo).
Anyhow, after college I moved to MadridSpain, and made up a funk band with several people from Georgia (the country), Mexico, Nicaragua, and the USA. With several collaborations from people from Nigeria, Chile and Spain among others, this band was called GlobalFunkkonnection I guess you can imagine why.
But when this band was over I found myself wondering what I wanted o do next. This was when I thought of Peter, this friend from Maracaibo (a drummer) who had told me about some new sound projects he was working on, by fusing music with real life sounds, and one day I saw myself in Paris, writing songs, and this is what I’d like you to check out now (My music). Its 2010 and next year 2011 we will continue….
Nací en Maracaibo (Venezuela), una mística colorida ciudad cuyos habitantes son mas peculiares de lo que uno se puede imaginar, esto va desde la forma de hablar, andar y la forma en la que vivimos la vida y sus tesoros, incluido la música.
Desde que puedo recordar las reuniones de familia y amigos siempre giraban en torno a una guitarra, o algún tipo de karaoke, por lo que en este sentido siempre estaba rodeada de música. Mi abuelo y abuela solían cantar Zarzuela cuando ellos eran muy jóvenes (ellos son de Cataluña, España), mi padre también cantaba increíblemente y aun todavía me roba el micrófono cada vez que tiene la oportunidad e incluso mi madre, sin ser la mejor cantante del mundo siempre esta tratando de cantar. Por todo esto aprendí a cantar por la influencia de ellos que ha sido desde que yo recuerdo.
Mi primera banda real fue probablemente cuando yo tenía 13 o 14 años y empecé a tocar la guitarra alrededor de esa época. A partir de ese momento fui de una banda a otra, cantando desde hard rock, rock alternativo, y grunge. Si esto eran los 90. Escribí mi primera canción para un amigo cuando tenía 12 y he estado escribiendo desde entonces.
Entonces empecé, en la época del college, nuevos tipos de bandas con otros intereses musicales, como ska fusionado con música clásica y R & B (Mr. Froid), reggae, drum and base, chill out y psicodelic house (Santos Club), indie electro-folk (Los Os Brokolis), rock de los 50 con pop rock (Nicotine Sunshine) y también empecé haciendo colaboraciones con varias bandas como Gods New Version para los que cante y escribí la letra de la canción llamada American beauty, la cual fue mas tarde seleccionada para una recopilación de música Chill out en Venezuela (Chill Out Volumen 1). Entre otras colaboraciones hay una con Dj Triphonic y Tommy Leb, la canción es llamada Brisa (es una divertida canción de drum and base acerca de mi ciudad, Maracaibo)
De alguna manera, después de acabar el college, me moví a Madrid y forme parte de una banda de funk con varias personas de Georgia, México, Nicaragua y de EE.UU. Con varias colaboraciones de gente de Nigeria, Chile y España entre otros. Esta banda se llamaba GlobalFunkonnection, supongo que os imaginar el motivo...
Pero acabe con esta banda me pregunte que es lo que quería hacer ahora. En este momento fue cuando pensé en Peter, este chico de Maracaibo (Batería) quien me hablo acerca de un nuevo proyecto en el que estaba trabajando, mezclando música con sonidos de la vida real. Por lo que un ida me encontré en Paris, escribiendo canciones y esto es lo que me gustaría que chequearas ahora (My music). Es 2010 y el próximo año 2011 continuaré
